Lucille Chase

Lansing - Age 95, passed away in the evening of March 4, 2018. Lucille was born to W. Ray and Elsie G. (Schultz) Chase in the home she spent nearly all her life in near downtown Lansing. Lucille attended Central High School graduating in January of 1941 and briefly worked for Auto-Owners Insurance. She spent many years caring for her parents and home.

Lucille joined Central United Methodist Church in 1938 and participated in many Central activities throughout her adult life. She was a long-time member of the church sewing group and lent her talented hand as a seamstress to their work for many years.

Lucille loved to be outside tending to her yard and garden and for years could be found tidying up her entire home block. She tended to many beautiful roses and her peonies always made a beautiful show each spring. In addition to her love of gardening she loved animals. Though she would tell you the only pet she ever had was a goldfish she enjoyed spending time outdoors during a Michigan spring with a cat on her lap or neighbor's dog to pet.

Lucille spent the last few years residing at Burcham Hills where she had the opportunity to take part in new activities and spend time with residents and staff. She always enjoyed an outing to the local library used library book sale and would never tire reading old favorites from Lillian Jackson Braun or John Grisham. She also worked diligently on many embroidery and crochet projects sharing them with friends and the local humane society.

Her friends wish to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Burcham Hills and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their time and care. Lucille always had a thank you for those around her while there and could make everyone chuckle with her humorous ways.
