Stuart Frank Parsell Obituary
Stuart Frank Parsell Stuart is survived by his wife, Cecelia Parsell; his brother, James Parsell; his daughters Georgiana Murray (John), Suza Griggs (Larry), Andrea Rumsey; and his six grandchildren, Ben, Kelly (Andrew), Eric (Meg), Nick (Molly), Leah (Mohamed) and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Darryl and his parents, Harry and Georgiana Parsell. Stuart took great pride in his family and their accomplishments. He was a proponent of higher education. He excelled academically receiving both a bachelor's and Masters degree from Michigan State. He then spent his entire life as an educator and coach. He taught and coached at the high school (Dimondale and Croswell-Lexington) and college level (Olivet). He coached football, basketball, cross country and track. He coached football at Olivet College and in 1961 was named the Michigan Coach of the Year. He was also inducted into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of Fame. When he left Olivet, he did so as the winningest coach in the history of the college. In his later years he continued to be active in education. He coordinated student teacher assignments and review and was a state lobbyist for education. He was also an assistant coach after he retired from full time work. He loved his wife and children dearly and deeply and was so happy with the life he lived. His ethics guided all his life decisions. He was honest, hard working and believed in the pursuit of excellence in all he did. He also liked to have fun, was quick witted and loved to laugh. He will be sorely missed by those whose lives were enriched by knowing him. The family will hold a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stuart's memory can be made to the Olivet College Football program.
