Joyce Davis Obituary
Joyce B. Davis (Hull, U'Ren)

Born July, 2, 1937, Joyce resided at Island City Assisted Living in Eaton Rapids.  The family extends much gratitude to Dr. Gupta, the staff, and the hospice care nurses for their loving care during this past year as she succumbed to Alzheimer's disease.  Joyce was a native of Eaton Rapids where she worked and raised her family.  She graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1955 and went on to college at Michigan State University.  She married a fellow classmate and band member and made long and lasting friendships with her Round Robin Group.  After college she became an elementary school teacher in Eaton Rapids and was respected amongst her colleagues and she was a valued role model for all of her students.  She was a member and a deaconess at the First Baptist Church in Eaton Rapids and lived for and trusted in the Lord.

During her life, Joyce loved to volunteer and give back to society by volunteering in many church functions, as a tutor to students, or for the American Red Cross by helping out in disasters or delivering blood during emergencies.  She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and continued to teach her grandsons an important lesson in life on giving to others and living life with a purpose.

In 1999, Joyce married William "Bill" Davis.  They spent twelve wonderful years together traveling and visiting family and friends.  One of their most cherished vacations was a Safari to Africa.  After Bill died in 2011, Joyce's health and cognitive ability began to decline rapidly, yet she continued to be the caregiver and spiritual support to her family as long as she could.  Joyce had a loving spirit and was a devoted Christian.  She put her faith in her family to carry out her wishes as she had prepared for, and met the same fate as her mother.

Joyce is survived by her sons Christopher (Trisha) Hull of Mesa, AZ, Michael (Norene) Hull of Holt, MI, Donald (Renae) Hull of Charlotte, MI, step-daughter Bonnie Bridleman of Mt. Pleasant, WI, and Billie Jean (Tom) Rasiuk of LaPorte, IN.  brother Bruce (Shirley) U'Ren of Eaton Rapids, MI, sister Janet Monroe of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Grandchildren, Gregory, Geoff, Jeremy, Bryan, Robert, Madelynn, and Chase.  Seven step grandchildren, Chris (Sarah), Jeff (Cindy), Kevin (Emily), Brandon, Brittney, Blake and Jordan and several step great grandchildren all of whom she loved and cherished.  Preceding Joyce in death were her parents William "Art" and Alice U'Ren, husbands Robert "Bob" Hull, and William "Bill" Davis, infant granddaughter Linzy Clevenger-Hull.

Memorial services will be 11 am Saturday July 19, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, 9220 Kinneville Rd. Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Scott Boles officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Davis, First Baptist Church Eaton Rapids, MI.,  Eaton County United Way, American Red Cross, Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA), or Hospice Advantage.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
