Fay Dorn Obituary
Fay A. Dorn

Holt, Michigan

Fay Alfreda Dorn was an extraordinary woman who made the most of her 95 years of life and touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She passed away on August 2, 2014. Born on September 5, 1918 in Anniston, MO, Fay came from humble beginnings, but was able to accomplish so much with her life. She spent her younger years in Arkansas during the Great Depression, doing what was needed to help the family survive. This strong work ethic and focus on family would stay with Fay throughout her life and define her as an individual.

As a young woman, she moved to Michigan to take advantage of the job opportunities at Oldsmobile so that she could start the family she always wanted. Over the years to come, Fay was able to raise a wonderful family and pass along the traits that made her the amazing individual she was. She wasn't all work though. After 25 years of dedicated service at Oldsmobile, Fay was finally able to retire and get in touch with her fun side. She traveled quite a bit, both nationally and internationally. During the summers, you would find her fishing on lakes in northern Michigan or spending time with her loving family. In the winters, she spent her time playing cards with friends and enjoying the Florida sunshine. And what a bingo player she was! No matter where she was at, you can bet that she was surrounded by laughter and love because she truly brightened the lives of all of those around her. She will be greatly missed, but her memory and love will live on in her family.

Fay was preceded in death by her traveling companion, fishing buddy and husband Albert Dorn. She is survived by her brother, Bobby Joe (Faye) Ballard; her daughters, Karen (Larry) Lumbert and Rose (David) Patrick; her grandchildren, Kami, Kim, Kirk, Brandon and Ben; as well as her 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A private service has taken place.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Advantage. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
