I had the privilege of being a member of Pastor Schroeders congregation while he served at Monroeville, Indiana and while he served at Ascension in East Lansing. He will be remembered with love and gratitude for his faithful service to his congregations. Pastor confirmed my 3 children at Ascension. May he rest in everlasting peace. My sincere sympathies to Joy and family

Pastor Schroeder is the reason we have been members at Ascension for over 40 years (even after he retired). He baptized and confirmed both our daughters. His faith, conviction, intellect and also his sharp humor will always be remembered and unmatched. We already miss him and pray for solace for Joy and the whole family.

Rev. Schroeder laid the foundation for my faith, when he was at Peace Lutheran Church in Sparta. Through the years that faith has flourished, carrying me through all of the ups and downs of life, a 40-year veterinary / teaching career, and culminating in my becoming an ordained minister. Thank you Pastor Schroeder (and Joy), for helping to set me on the right path. Rest in God's eternal care, beloved child of God and disciple of Christ. Joy, Deb and the rest of the family, may God surround you with love and grant you comfort as you mourn his loss. Blessings of Peace, Rev. Dawn Christenson (Dawn Wienczkowski)

We moved to 12 mile when my sister and I were five years old.
We attended the Lutheran church all through grade school and middle school in most of high school.
We became friends with the girls , they’ll probably remember the Shaffer twins . We used to go sledding and play there quite often .
Joy would always make us some good hot chocolate we would drink up at the bar.
Made some great neighborhood memories there along with finding the Lord who we all still follow to this day !
Pastor married all three of us girls which is pretty awesome I’m sure he will be missed !
love and prayers ,
