Lubbock- La Wana Banta Moore, went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2018. She was born in Lamesa, Texas on September 19, 1929 to John David and Hallie White Banta.
She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1947. La Wana married Ernest Moore on September 2, 1950 in Lamesa, Texas. Later attended Hardin-Simmons University of Abilene, Texas, graduated in 1951; and received her Master's in Education degree from Texas Tech in 1965. She taught school in LISD from 1960-1990. She enjoyed working with the youth at First Baptist Church; especially summer camps and teaching Bible studies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Kenneth Banta, L.L. Banta, and Jennine McKee; daughters, Vivian Ann Moore and Cherie Moore Russell.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Donna Banta Lane, Mike Banta, Dennis Banta, Don McKee, Ron McKee, and Carolyn McKee and their families.
Visitation will be held this evening, May 18, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at First Baptist Church in the Ford Chapel with Rev. Jay Abernathy and Rev. D.L. Lowrie officiating.
Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church, Youth Ministry or Gideon's International.

Such a beautiful and loving woman, who gave all she had too serve Christ. She made such an impact in my girls lives and just being her! You are loved and your up in heaven rejoicing. Prayers for all the family and friends.
