Blitz Womack

Memorial services for Blitz (Lovick T.) Womack, 75, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 12 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Leon Wallace officiating. Blitz was born January 6, 1941 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Lovick T. and Lettie Mae (Burke) Womack and passed away while in Hospice Care in Houston on July 6, 2016. Blitz was a graduate of Lufkin High School, Class of '59. He was a cheerleader his senior year. During the 60's he served as an Army Medic in Korea. He held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University and his teaching career encompassed teaching on a Pueblo Indian Reservation in Sante Fe, New Mexico, as well as in Pasadena ISD and ended teaching prisoners for the Windham Prison System. In the 70's, he worked as an insurance agent. Always a hard worker, his family recalls his first summer job as a youth when we wore out three bicycles delivering telegrams. He was a man of faith and a member of Eastview Pentecostal Church. Blitz is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Darling Womack along with their children, Drew, Jude and Danya, all of Houston; siblings, Danny Womack of Austin, Susan Teutsch of Lufkin and Sally and her husband Joe Smith of Lufkin. He was loved by in-laws, nieces and nephews of the Seaman and Womack families. He leaves behind many friends and his beloved Maltese, Izzy. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Kit Teutsch. It was requested by Blitz that monetary expressions of sympathy be sent to the Winnie Berry Animal Shelter, 1102 N John Redditt Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11 to 12 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
