Vivian Kurvin

Vivian Kurvin, 78, of Lufkin, was born March 18, 1933 in Chireno, Texas, the daughter of the late Cecil Louise (Moore) and Norris Dee Ray. She passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 in a local hospice facility. Mrs. Kurvin was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved flowers, animals and was very nature friendly. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Johnny Philpott; daughters, Myrtie Porter and Bettye Johnson; son, Mike Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Genevia Johnson, Danny and Cheryl Kurvin and Kenneth and Susan Kurvin; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bill Vincik; brother and sister-in-law, C. P. and Sue Ray; sister-in-law, Opal Ray; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kurvin was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Kurvin, Jr., son; James Smith; 4 brothers; and 1 sister. Honorary pallbearers will be Camaron Kurvin, Scott Moore, Michael Whitehead, Johnny New, Michael Rudd, Mike Johnson, David Johnson and Timothy Johnson. Memorial services for Mrs. Kurvin will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with Bro. Keith Woolf officiating. Services are in the care of Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home/Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home, directors.
