Bonaire, GA- Georgie Spires passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at home with loved ones caring for her. She was born September 1, 1926 in Nashville, Ga., as the only child of her deceased parents Lonnie Belle and John Kendrick Stodghill. Her husband, John Edward Spires preceded her in death.
"Ms. Georgie" was a much loved member of Unity Baptist Church in Bonaire, GA. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base. Ms. Georgie enjoyed volunteering at the Museum of Aviation in the early days of its' founding. She also served as a volunteer at N.A.R.F.E. (National Association Retired Federal Employees) after her retirement. Ms. Georgie will be remembered as having a true servant's heart as she lived her life before family, friends, co-workers and associates. Her family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Heart of Georgia Hospice and Karen's Caregivers for all the loving care they provided.
She is survived by her children; Beth Spires Wilson (Eldee), Denise Spires Speir (Rickie), Kenny Spires (Sally), Joe Spires (Diana), Karen Spires Williams (Curt); grandchildren; Rick Speir (Lisa), Eldee Wilson, III (Susan), Slade Speir (Tiffany), Levi Spires (Adele), Rebeka Spires, Rachel Spires Joines (Justin), Jessi Spires Marlow (Jason), Katie Williams (Ricky Rubinski –loving companion), Kaci Williams (Brandon Carter – loving companion), Brandon Dobek (Lauren), Steven Dobek (Jill) and Shawn Dobek; 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild due next month.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will be private at Magnolia Park Cemetery immediately after the service. With the hot summer weather upon us, it is suggested that the men leave their jackets and ties at home.
