James Wesley "Jim" Bramlett (1945 - 2018)

  • "Kind thoughts are with the family at this very difficult..."

James "Jim" Wesley Bramlett
March 29, 1945 - May 14, 2018
Macon, Georgia- Jim Bramlett of Macon, GA – was born in Anniston, AL on March 29, 1945 and went home to be with the Lord May 14, 2018, at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years Linda Bramlett originally of Jacksonville, AL, a daughter Vickie Bramlett Ashley and her husband Ricky, of Wellington, AL, two sons, J.W. Bramlett of St. Simons Island, GA and Andy Bramlett and his wife Michelle of Milledgeville, GA. His grandchildren are Chase Ashley of Wellington, AL, Cori Bramlett of Grand Rapids, MI, Dr. Samantha Ashley of Huntsville, AL, Zachary Bramlett of St. Simons Island, GA, Ella Templeton, Olivia Bramlett and Jackie Templeton of Milledgeville, GA.
Diagnosed at the age of thirteen with Juvenile Diabetes, Mr. Jim refused to let diabetes rule his life. He married against the advice of his doctor who assured him that he "would never live past the age of thirty." He and Linda went on to have three loving children while he worked his way up the corporate ladder in industrial sales. He eventually retired from A. W. Chesterton as manager of the hydraulics division for the state of Georgia.
Raised in a Christian home, Jim accepted Christ at an early age while attending a church youth group meeting. Later as an adult he worked with children and youth as a Sunday school teacher and assistant youth minister, and eventually became a deacon at Lawrence Drive Baptist Church. Blessed with a beautiful voice Jim enjoyed singing in the choir, participating in quartets and duets, and assisting with the youth choir.
Well known for his boundless energy, Mr. Jim was a tireless worker in his church and community. He was never a "do as I say, not as I do" kind of father but a "live as I live" example of the kind of parent and grandparent God wanted him to be. He has left an abiding legacy of love and stewardship to his family, his church, and his community. His loving-kindness, generosity, and willingness to help those in need will be terribly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
The family will receive visitors at Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, 5774 School Rd, Macon, GA 31216 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday May 16, 2018 with funeral services following at 2 o'clock. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 322 Nisbet St. NW, Jacksonville, AL 36265 on Thursday May 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. CST.
