Jimmy Johnny Vastakis
May 19, 1954 - January 9, 2019
Macon, Georgia- Jimmy Johnny Vastakis, 64, of Macon, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Lawrence Drive Baptist Church. Reverend Len Woodard will officiate. The family will have a time of visitation on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the church. Burial will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Macon, he was the son of Chaplean Boutwell Vastakis and the late Johnny D. Vastakis. He was a retired deputy sheriff with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office with 25 years of service and received the honor of Deputy of Year for the State of Georgia in 2004. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gus J. Vastakis.
Jimmy was also a U.S. Marine Sergeant serving in Vietnam and was assigned as a MSG at many U.S. Embassies around the world.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Teresa O'Kelly Vastakis, Children, Johnny J. Vastakis (Jessica), Aislinn Wade(Keith), Hannah Marie Revell(Brett); Siblings, Lea Smith, Susan Land(Skip), Mike Vastakis, and George Vastakis (Tina) ; Six Grandchildren, Wyatt, Jaxson, Camden, Aubrey, Brayden, and Savannah Marie. His furbabies, Bella and Abbey.
