Lindberg Bentley
McIntyre, GA- Charles Lindberg Bentley, Sr. went to be with our Lord in Heaven and the love of his life Christine Topping Bentley, Tuesday, January 9, 2018. They were married for almost 65 years . A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:30 at Liberty Baptist Church in McIntyre with Reverend Johnny Jackson officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 until the funeral hour. The family may be contacted in McIntyre at the home of Mr. Bentley's son Kevin.
Mr. Bentley was a devoted husband and family man, who always provided generously. His greatest joy was spending time with his five grandsons throughout the years and he was an extremely proud "Ole Grandpa". He held a deep love for Liberty Baptist Church and his community. Mr. Bentley served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and retired from
BASF(Engelhard) after forty seven years of dedicated service as an electrician. He enjoyed telling stories about his work there and all the great people he worked with over the years. After retiring, he and Christine traveled selling restaurant China and making many friends.
Mr. Bentley was preceded in death by his loving wife, Christine , his parents George Respus Wayne Bentley and Lucille Swann Bentley, his two brothers, George Bentley and Bill (Bubba) Bentley, a sister Luella Bates and his son-in-law, Bill Pugsley.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Bentley Pugsley of Highlands, N.C.; sons, Charles L. Bentley, Jr. (Linda) of Laurens, S.C., Timothy Bentley of McIntyre and Kevin Bentley (Carla) of McIntyre; grandchildren, Charles Lindberg (Trey)Bentley, III(Elizabeth), Michael Bentley (Jessica), Mitch Bentley (Courtney), Ben Bentley and Nick Bentley; great grandchildren, Abby, Luke, Kylie, & Madi Kate.
The family would like to thank Mr. Bentley's caregivers at Toomsboro Nursing Home, Toomsboro, GA (Pruitt Health and Hospice) for all their care and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 1210 Liberty Church Road, McIntyre or the Central GA Regional Office of the in Macon.
