Americus, GA- Ronald Dillard Bryan of Americus died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at his home. He was born June 6, 1946 in Americus to the late Nedium Dillard Bryan and LaVilla Margaret Paradise Bryan.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2018 at Andersonville National Cemetery with Rev. Rick Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus.
Mr. Bryan was a member of Central Baptist Church, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a lifetime member of the NRA and VFW. As a U.S. Army combat veteran, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and a Sharpshooter Rifle badge. He received his Associate's Degree in Computer Programming from Crandall Junior College, and worked as a Correctional Officer at Macon State Prison and later retired from Sumter County Correctional Institute.
Survivors include his three daughters and two sons-in-law: Tiffany and Rence Cheek of Hawkinsville, Rita and Russ Dunaway of Warner Robins, and Donna Morgan Kitchens of Americus; six grandchildren: Bryan Bledsoe, Reed Dunaway, India Cheek, Clare Frances Cheek, Morgan Kitchens, and Bradley Kitchens; Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Gale and Dennis Brown of Milledgeville; and his companion of twenty-four years, Tricia Johnson of Americus.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to: Cheek Memorial Baptist Church, 1705 Crawford St., Americus, GA 31709.
