Maude Parker Obituary

Maude Goodwin Parker -MACON - Maude Goodwin Parker died Sunday, May 11, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 15, at Vineville Baptist Church, Macon, with interment at Riverside Cemetery. Dr. Otis Andrews and Dr. Richard Hemphill will officiate and the Lamplighters Sunday School class as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, May 14, at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, Macon. -Mrs. Parker was a native of Macon and spent most of her life in this area. Her parents were Eula Priscilla Willis Goodwin and William Robert Goodwin. She had three siblings, Herschel Goodwin, Willie Ezell Smith, and Thelma Ezell Wagner. She graduated from Miller High School and the Business Training Institute. Mrs. Parker was a committed Christian and active church member. She grew up in the original Mikado Baptist Church, was a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church for thirty-nine years and currently was a member of Vineville Baptist Church. She had worked at Wellston Air Force Base, Art Furniture Company and the J.P. Stevens Woolen Mill in Dublin. She also worked for thirty-four years in her husband's State Farm Insurance agency. -Mrs. Parker was a very supportive wife and mother who was intensely involved in the activities of her husband and son. She enjoyed socializing with her many relatives and friends. When health hindered outside activities, she kept in contact by many hours on the telephone. She loved her family and friends deeply and found most of the joy in her life from these relationships. -Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband of sixty years, George Key Parker, originally from Gordon, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Denise Parker of Bolingbroke; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Erika Parker Boone and Matthew Boone of Bonaire; granddaughter Elyse Marie Parker of Bolingbroke; her cousin, Tommie Hoover Rule; niece, Anne Wagner Welch; and nephews, Edward Wagner and Eric Smith, Jr. -Donations may be made in her name to the missions ministry, A Voice in the Wilderness, 6691 Cypress Edge Drive, Blairsville, GA 30512. -Visit www.mem.com to express tributes. -Snow's Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Services, Cherry Street has charge of arrangements. I'm sorry to hear this sad news. I remember the good times with all our old gang on Somerset Drive. The fun times, the backyard "carnivals", etc. Your mom always made everyone feel so welcome.

Did she ever forgive what we did to her hardwood floor in the living room? Wait! I think she forgave us in about five minutes. After that, it was time for cookies and a good laugh.
