Macon, GA- Michael Ray Dortch, age 64, of Macon passed away February 25, 2017. A memorial service will be held at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola on March 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made to Save A Pet at P.O. Box 933, Forsyth, GA 31029 or to the donor's favorite local animal shelter.
Michael was born in Mobile, AL and grew up in Warner Robins, GA. He was a longtime resident of Macon and developed many friendships over the years through his employment as a hair stylist. He loved music, animals, traveling, time at the beach, and his friends and family.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Ray Dortch. Survivors include his mother, Barbara Dortch Houlton of Evans; sister, Sharon Dortch Fry (David) of Augusta; sister, Becky Dortch Conover (Wayne) of Snellville; and nephew, Jay Lloyd Underwood of Atlanta.

Condolences to Michael's family including Brian. Michael styled my hair for 40 years starting at Davidson's back in 1977 or 78. I also watched his precious pets. He heard all my school stories and my family events through out the years. Michael will be missed by many. God bless you all.

I can only imagine how much you miss "Our Michael!" That is what several of my special friends and his customers called him in conversation. I do miss my monthly visits with him. He has been so much more than a hairstylist; he has been a friend for more than 30 years. It seems like I have followed him all around Macon from Country Classics to Amanda Jane's! I so enjoyed his humor, our chats, and how good he could make me feel. We had such wonderful conversations each time I visited with him! Love to you all!

Michael was unique! The light of delight in his eyes was seen often by his friends when he encountered something wonderful. He lived a life of joy in the moment...he will be remembered and missed by many. I was blessed with his friendship and we shared a love of music. Brian, I first met Michael in the late 1970's in front of the Grand Opera House during intermission. He was so handsome and so young. We have been friends for many many years. I so enjoyed his stories of Petula, and the shared memories of our friend, Lita. Although we never met, he spoke of you often and so clearly enjoyed his life with you both at home and your St. Simons getaway. This has been so sad; I can hardly believe it. I am so sorry. Condolences to the family. Michael worked at Country Classics with my brother Jerald Stone. He had a great sense of humor and always made me smile when I went in. Michael was such a considerate person and consoled me when Jerald passed away. I know they are laughing together and picked up where they left off.

Michael will be never be forgotten by us. Alfredo and I have such great memories traveling with Michael and Brian. His sense of humor and adventure made our time together truely fun. Whether it was London or our home in California Michael was up for everything...except theme parks and zoos. Funny since we live in a neighborhood near the San Dieo Zoo. We have only the best of memories to cherish.

To Michael's Family ~
My heartfelt condolences are expressed in the loss of Michael who was my dear friend for 40 years. He was truly a master hair stylist and cosmetologist, and could always style one's hair as only a master could do! His presence at the salon will be greatly missed as he occupied a special place there that only Michael could fill. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him and enjoyed his special hair stylist talent. Rest in peace, my friend!

Michael was my hairdresser for over 17 years. He first cut my hair in 1979 at Davidsons at Macon Mall until the late 90's at Country Classics on Vineville Avenue. I always looked forward to my appointments and enjoyed our time together. He was a very talented hairdresser. I am so sorry about his passing. Prayers go out for his family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael's entire family and many friends. Mike was the organist at our wedding almost 45 years ago. He was an Eagle graduate of Northside High School, class of "1971." He and I were taught music lessons from the same teacher and often practiced musical duets when our hour lessons were back to back.
