Chester Vaughn
November 10, 1924 - December 24, 2017
Tucker, GA- Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, mentor, serviceman, friend; these words and more embrace the life of Chester Vaughn. Always one to find the good in people and a thoughtful and compassionate encourager, he departed this life on December 24, 2017. He made those in his presence feel comfortable, important and loved. He was born to the late Roscoe and Gertrude Vaughn on November 10, 1924 in Brockway, New York.
Chester received a BS degree in Accounting from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a Master of Business Administration degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He worked as a Revenue Agent with the Internal Revenue Service for more than 30 years. Upon retirement, Chester relocated to Ocala, FL in 1988 and came to Macon, GA in 2013. In 2015, Chester relocated to the Atlanta metropolitan area.
He was preceded in death by his devoted and cherished wife of 63 years, Marilyn. He is survived by his loving and caring children Valerie, Dwayne (Stephanie), Steven (Sharon), and Craig; his precious grandchildren, Kimberly, Christina (Kristopher) Chesterman, Matthew, Alisha, Erinn, Daniel, Taryn, Brian, Joshua and Bethany; great grandchildren Terrence, Denise, Jamie, Analyn and Aralei; his brother-in-law Lawrence Stroud; sisters-in-law Elise Whyte, Gwendolyn Booker, Vernetha Bryant, Mary and Anne Stroud; nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the North Macon Presbyterian Church, 5707 Rivoli Drive, Macon, GA 31210. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at North Macon Presbyterian Church, 5707 Rivoli Drive, Macon, GA 31210, on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment service at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA will follow at 1:00 p.m.
The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and support of members and staff at North Macon Presbyterian Church and the staff of Sunrise Senior Living. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org), 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or the North Macon Presbyterian Church. Dear Dwayne, I know the loss of your father is not easy to deal with. But the way you and your siblings have handled the journey of this loss as well as the loss of your mother a few short years ago is truly amazing. It confirms the wonderful job that they did in the development and rearing of you and your siblings. Cynthia and I know that your father & mother are together now and are so proud of the person that you have become and the strength and wisdom that you have shared with your family and friends.

Chester, thanks for nuturing me into the woman I am today. You and my sister, Marilyn were the first person to keep me over the summer when I was small and you taught me to play tennis and was always testing my knowledge about things. I dont know what to say except that i love you. I cant understand exactly how you feel, but God does and will keep raising you up. I hope that our prayers will help a little. I understand times like this can be full of anxieties and stress but remeber god is a God of comfort. 1pet5:7 says you can throw your burdens on him because he cares and he will sustain you. I hope this helps with your loss.
