I worked with John for 13 years at Belk. He was a wonderful man who was always happy and he will be missed by everyone that knew him. This photo was taken at our "going away" party when Belk began restructuring the company. It is how I will always remember him. My heart goes out to his family for the great loss of John and Joan.

Joan and John were such great people. Joan was my cousin and she and John would stop on their way through Greenville and visit. Joan was the spitting image of our mother, her father Uncle Bill was her brother. I have fond memories of them coming to Durham and us visiting in Macon.
They both are in heaven celebrating with their savior and having a reunion with their parents and grandparents. I am glad they had time to travel and sad that we are left to miss their dear souls.
Meredith we will lift you in prayer and pray for the peace that Jesus brings us. Cling to all the memories and know they are in a better place waiting for the rest of us. Would love to meet you one day! Blessings to you all. From the Henderson Family, Aunt Fran's fam

To the Woodford family: I worked with John for several years when I was in college and working at Belks. He was fair, friendly and a genuine professional. Mrs. Woodford always had a smile and a greeting for me whenever we saw each other. I'm genuinely shocked and saddened at your loss and I regret I cannot attend the services.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my dear friend Joan and her loving husband John. My mother and Joan's mother were special friends from the time the Elders moved to Macon, and Joan and I were close in spirit ever since we got to know each other in 7th grade. We shared so much of our lives as we grew up in Macon, and our friendship continued for the rest of our lives. George and I send our deepest love to Joan's brother Bill, to Meredith and Christopher and their families, and to all of John's family.

My friend Joanie made me laugh - always. We said we wanted to be at the same old folks home so we could laugh all day. She is in full JOY today and forever. Her John was devoted to her and she to him. Their love and devotion was a witness to all around them. They could hardy be apart, so God allowed them to come to Him together. I'm sorry for your loss and all of ours and grateful for our faith and theirs. They will live eternally in our hearts. Love, Susan DuPree Mincey
