John Kershaw Obituary

John Dale Kershaw, 91, of Plain City, Ohio, died Saturday, Sept. 29 at Kobacker House in Columbus, OH. He was born Dec. 3, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Richard Louis Kershaw and Isabella Dale Kershaw. He married Katherine Marie (Beard) Kershaw on Aug. 30, 1952 in Reading, PA.

John was retired but worked most recently as an engineer at ITT/Northern Telecom in Raleigh, NC. A man of many talents, he was a Veteran, serving in the military (Merchant Marines in the American and Pacific Ocean Theatres during WWII and stateside in the Army from 1944 to 1950). He also managed a gas station in Quaker City (OH), taught electronics at West Virginia Northern Community College and was an author. He published multiple text books in electronics and late in his career developed a love for historical fiction, self-publishing the novel "The Farm at Novestroka" in 2002. He was a life-long beekeeper (active from his teen years until the age of 88) and traveled multiple times to the Ukraine to teach English.

John, known as 'Jack' to close friends and family, had a great devotion to his family and was the primary caretaker for his ill wife from 1999 until her death in 2012. He is survived by his children, Terry Lee (Kathleen) Kershaw of Capitola, CA, Jacqueline Ann Kershaw (William Schrader) of Marysville, OH, Steven Dale Kershaw of Warner Robins, GA, Lisa Marie (Steven) Pullins of Perrysburg, OH, Linda Mabel Kershaw (Knute Holter) of Tres Pinos, CA; Three grandchildren, William Nicholas Schrader, Sara Katherine Schrader and Mason Kershaw Holter; and one brother, Spencer (Norberta) Kershaw of Geigertown, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 8 at the New California Presbyterian Church in Marysville, OH with Rev. Earl Dunbar officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. After the service, burial with flag and an Honor Guard presentation will occur at the Watkins Cemetery followed by a luncheon for family and friends back at the church.

Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the New California Presbyterian Church in care of the Ingram Funeral Home who is completing arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.ingramfuneralservice.com.
