Richard E. Thompson Richard E. Thompson, 73, died on Sunday, March 6, 2011, with his family by his side in Madison, Virginia.

He was born on March 21, 1937, in Nyack, New York, to the late Wilbur and Leota Thompson.

Richard attended Pratt Institute in New York City and Bridgeport University in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The majority of his career as a graphic artist were spent as a civilian serving the United States Government and the United States Department of the Army for over 39 years.

He was an active member of Blue Ridge Community Church.

His interests included spending time with his family, creating artwork, and carpentry. He devoted much of his time and energy to his family throughout the years.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Jeanette Thompson; daughter, Kara Harrison and son-in-law Timothy Harrison; son, Mark Thompson and daughter-in-law, Kelly Thompson; eight grandchildren, Heather Harrison, David Harrison, Chris Harrison, Lauren Harrison, Mark Thompson Jr., Faith Thompson, Mary Thompson, and Noah Thompson; and two great- grandchildren, Gabriela Harrison and Emma Harrison.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Blue Ridge Community Church, 5350 Lake Saponi Terrace, Barboursville, VA 22923.

Donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
