Ted has been a wonderful friend for over 60 years starting back in Pennsylvania. He has meant so much to my family and he has helped us in many different situations from giving sound advice, lending an experienced hand in working situations, and being a treasure for travel knowledge. He has given so much to humanity through volunteering and his variety of experiences he has shared with others.

I feel fortunate to have spent a week with cousin Teddy in his beloved Maine. We traveled all over Maine and Quebec, and I will never forget his hospitality. All my life it was a treat to visit his home and have a wonderful meal, and laugh together. I miss you, Teddy!

I will miss Ted very much, knew him for a few short years but came to think of him has the big brother I never had growing up. Never tired of his stories and his little off humor. He was always apologizing for things he would say that were a bit off, but he spoke his mind for which I found refreshing.

It saddens me greatly that such a wonderful man will no longer be with us. For many, many years, Ted volunteered at the Margaret Chase Smith Library and every day I am reminded of his fine and diligent work which made researching here that much easier. He was kind to his many friends and so enjoyed volunteering. He traveled extensively and souvenirs from those trips adorn my home to this day. He used to collect matchbooks from places he had been which filled a 5 gallon container. I've only recently disposed of the contents, suspecting that Ted would be mortified to think that so many matches in one place might end up burning down my home!!! Seeing him in his last days and knowing that he was suffering made me so very, very sad. It pleased me that his hospice care workers were from my own family and that my own daughter and granddaughter were able to share time with him during his struggle to leave this world. He was such a kind, caring, dear friend and he will be missed terribly.

Ted was a close neighbor and good friend. I will think of him fondly every time I look at his neat red home. I know my Quaker friend is now at peace and through with all his health struggles which had plagued him in his later years. God bless you, Ted. I miss you. Fondly with love, Jane Arthur
