Our biggest memory of Dana, apart from his general loveliness, are his words that "you are never to old to learn". We remember this and have repeated it often to others.

I have known Uncle Dana my whole life. And of the thousands of people whom I have known, Dana Wallace was one of the most remarkable. I will always cherish the memories of the times I spent with him: either digging for clams or swimming at Mere Point, skiing at Sugarloaf, sharing a delicious meal at his home with Aunt Mary, or on one of his visits with me, either in Washington, Norway, or my homes in California. Dana will be greatly missed by our whole family. We all loved him very much.

From: The Allison Family, Yorkshire England.
We first made contact with our American family some 14 years ago through Audrey Gardiner, Linda’s mum, and niece (by only 7 years) to Jessica Wallace, when we made the journey to Maine for the wedding of Kim and Sue. Valerie and Dana collected us from the airport and we went on to meet Jessica at the hotel.
We had a wonderful time at the wedding and in a real family atmosphere. Dana was an inspiration with such enthusiasm for any topic or activity that came into the discussion
We had the pleasure of hosting Dana and Mary at our home in Yorkshire when we were able to visit the village of Warley in Yorkshire from where the Greenwoods, Dana's ancestors, started on their epic journey to Maine back in the 1880s.
The Greenwood shop is still standing but is now a house and we were invited inside much to Dana’s excitement. Lunching in the pub opposite and speaking to the local people about the Greenwood resulted in Dana and Mary being featured in the local newspaper with the story and history of the Greenwoods.
Dana was special to us and Daughter Jenny became our ambassador visiting for the wedding of Christopher Walters and Lori staying with Sue Wallace and also Dana and Mary at their home. Jenny was proud to call Dana ‘Grampy’ and continued to refer to him as such on her return.
On reading of Dana’s achievements in his life is to remember a remarkable man who probably stacked more into his life enough for two men. Did he really ski this year?
We will treasure our memories of Dana and remember him as a very active man, a positive thinker and an achiever but above all a man who treasured his family and was very special to know.
We send all our love and sympathy to Mary, Valerie, Kerry-Sue and all the family.

My Dad's career and Dana's coincided at Sea & Shore Fisheries. He had the utmost personal and professional respect for Dana. In retirement, he was always tickled when Dana, on the way to the Harbor, would stop by the house.

We missed seeing Dana the last few years, but were friends for life. We lived and worked in Augusta when he did. He, a fellow member of the Abnaki club, a rugged hiker not slowed a bit by any health problems, worked with us in maintaining our pieces of Appalachian Trail on Bigelow. We often have said, "Wonder how Dana is doing", and speak of his unfailing good humor, his intelligence, his unwarranted modesty, his perpetual enthusiasm. The world was a better place with him in it, and we were privileged to have known him.

To Dana's Family: I am sad to hear of Dana's passing. I worked for the Dept. of Marine Resources for 12 l/2 years and for several of those years, I served as Dana's secretary. Dana was amazing to say the least. His work ethic, dedication, sense of humor, and his infinite energy and constant motion never ceased to amaze me. Dana used to call me at the office from Brunswick. He would be on his way to work and get a great idea and would want me to write it down before he came to work. He would say, "Linda, just jot down this note for me." Twenty-seven pages later, I would still be trying to keep up! My sincerest condolences to your family. Living in Pennsylvania, I will be unable to attend Dana's services. However, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My deepest condolences go out to the entire family. I have known and enjoyed Dana for over 40 years. We will miss seeing and visiting with him at Sugarloaf.
