Wendy Lee SmithB1956 - 2019BAUGUSTA - Wendy Lee Smith, 62, a resident of Augusta, passed away, Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 5, 1956 in Providence, R.I., the daughter of Donald Pepper and Helen (Warner) Pepper. Wendy was a graduate of Scituate High School in Rhode Island.She later continued her education and earned her Master's degree in Criminal Justice. On Dec. 28, 2002 in Wiscasset, she married her husband of 16 years, David Smith. Through the years Wendy worked as a dispatcher for the police department and other communication services. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Winthrop and enjoyed "Soul Winning" and singing at the church. Other interests were shopping, especially at Pier 1, going to the ocean, relaxing in her pool, and her "Odd Collectables" for example her clock that ran backwards. She will always be remembered for her well known pickle addiction and her ability to get people to laugh and smile. Wendy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She especially loved her time spent with her family and cherished the moments with her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband, David K. Smith of Augusta; her son, Sean Cote and girlfriend Tracy Dodge of Chelsea, her daughter Tammy Cote of Bethlehem, N.H., stepchildren, Scott Smith of Benton, James Smith of Seoul, Korea, Desiree Bernard and Adam Smith both of Manchester, N.H., and Erica Smith of Bethlehem, N.H.; grandchildren, Alicia Gallo, Sawyer Stroop, Danica and Lily King, Bennet Golden and Lucas Bernard; brothers, Bruce Pepper and wife Kathy, Keith Pepper and wife Linda, and Scott Pepper and wife Donna; also, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; infant brother, Dale Pepper and her sister, Donna Loxley. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., on Saturday, January 19at Church Hill Baptist Church, 258 Church Hill Road, Augusta. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral service. Interment Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
