Dear Hillary, Sue & John, Have great childhood memories of visiting your home and running around your home and the woods with John as he was friend of my brother Joe, Hilliary i do remember that we were Lab partners @ UNH 76ish, Sue i remember you as incredible caring nurse in the icu @ AGH. Dr Shaw & my Dad were great community leaders and in 1979 Dr Shaw wrote an incredible letter of recommendation for my dad so he could practice medicine in Ireland & England. Last year i did get to speak with him and shake his hand in the the Nursing home in Winthrop. May the force be with you all & your families always.

In January of 1990, when I only knew Dr. Shaw and Sue from my work in the E.D., Dr Shaw saw me dejectedly being signed in as a surgical patient due to a ruptured disc. He asked me why I was there and I told him. His response was "You're not happy about this, are you?"
He offered his sympathy and went on about his business. In a half hour or so Dr. Shaw returned with a big bouquet of flowers and the statement that "Sue and I have talked. You shouldn't convalesce alone, when you're discharged you're coming to stay with us." The beginning of a real friendship.
Dr. Shaw harked from a time when going into medicine was a calling, not a business decision.
We are poorer with his passing.

To Sue and Family, It was with great sadness that we heard of John's passing. He was a favorite of both of us and we will never forget the chance meeting in Prien, Germany and the day spent at the Castle HerrenChiemsee. He was a wonderful man in all respects and was a good friend. Don and Christa Pauley

I was so very priviledged to get to work with Dr. Shaw as an X Ray Tech, both in the OR and for the patients he sent to our department. Such a dedicated physician, always very respectful of the people he worked with. My deepest sympathies go to all of his very special family and friends.
