Mary A. Taylor, age 93, of Malvern passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at her home. She was born May 24, 1928, in the Big Creek Community, to the late Henry and Blanche Burrow. Mary worked for many years at the Fabric Center in Malvern. She later worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier on the former Route 2, Malvern. She retired in 1993 following 18years of service with the post office. In her spare time she loved to work in her garden and loved beautiful flowers and sewing. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly and was loved by them in return. Mary was a faithful member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she was saved and baptized at a young age. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She loved her church family and attended regularly until her health declined and she became unable to attend as much as she desired.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Truman L. Taylor; her brothers, Melvin, Harold, and Jimmy Burrow and her sisters, Evelyn Givens and Agatha Lynn Burrow.
Survivors are her children Becky Gibbs (Don), Janet Davenport (Jerry), Paul Taylor (Barbara) all of Malvern; five grandchildren, Chris Davenport (Sherri) of Kennesaw, GA., Laurie Webb (Stephen) of Lewisburg, KY., Amy Thompson (Brent) of Malvern, Marc Taylor (Leah) of Jonesboro, and Marty Taylor (CaSandra) of Jessieville; seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, five step-great grandchildren and two step-great-great grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Givens of West Monroe, LA.; brother-in-law, Melvin Givens of Malvern; sister–in-law, Betty Burrow of Malvern and many nieces and nephews and friends who all loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 27, 2021 at Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00PM with Brothers Mark Thornton and Chris Morrison officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00PM. Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Casey Jones, Jeff Jones, Todd Burrow, Eddie Hewitt, Bryan Weatherford, and Randy Gill. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, and Anna Lauren Thompson, Justin and Michael Davenport.
Memorials may be made to the Big Creek MBC.
