Onawa, Iowa — Robert Alfred Oehler, 66, Onawa, Iowa, died Sunday, February 1, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Onawa.A memorial visitation with the family will be 6:00–8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. As per Bob’s wishes, his body has been donated for medical study.Robert Alfred Oehler was born April 15, 1942 in Mankato, Minnesota, the son of Michael and Lucy (Danberry) Oehler. He was raised in Mankato where he graduated from Loyola High School and then attended the University of Minnesota and St. John’s University.Robert managed The Happy Chef Restaurant in Mankato and then he and his brother, Mike, established The Happy Chef Restaurant in Onawa in October, 1969. It later became Oehler Brothers Family Restaurant and Robert continued operation until his retirement.He was married to Sharane Hansen in 1964 and later married Carla Hansel December 15, 1999.Robert was an outdoors person who enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.Survivors include his wife, Carla of Onawa; a daughter and her husband, Brenda and Tim Peters of Onawa; a son, Kyle Oehler of Valencia, CA; four granddaughters, Laura Peters, Nicole and her husband Chris Loyd, Bethany and her husband Josh Hancock and Lindsay Peters; his mother, Lucy Oehler of Mankato; a sister and her husband, Rosemary and Don Sargent of Mankato; and a brother and his wife, Mike and Pat Oehler of Missouri Valley, IA.He was preceded in death by his father.
