Shannon Bradshaw Obituary

Shannon Bradshaw

MANSFIELD: Shannon Bradshaw, beloved husband, father, brother, son, and uncle, passed away early Monday morning, May 5, 2014 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was 50 years old. He was born July 19, 1963 in Mansfield and was a 1981 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. During his high school career, he was an outstanding football player and was referred to by many as "The Dog".

Shannon was employed as a maintenance supervisor at General Motors and was known far and wide as a master mechanic and electrician and "fixer of anything broken". He loved music and could be found spending most of his time outdoors-fishing, hunting or relaxing. He was an amazing father and great mentor to his sons and "bonus sons". Shannon was a kind and gentle soul whose selfless actions and attitude inspired all of those around him. He had an invincible aura and was a pillar of strength and comfort for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Shannon was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving onboard the U.S.S. Eisenhower with Fighter Squadron VF-143, also known as the "Pukin' Dogs", as an aviation electrician.

He is survived by his wife, Hope Conn Bradshaw; three sons, Jarred, Alec and Joshua; parents, Larry V. and Rosalee (Boggs) Bradshaw; two brothers, Jeffery (Kathy) Bradshaw of Dublin, OH and Commander Matt (Celeste) Bradshaw of Mansfield; three sisters, Sheila Bradshaw (Martin Huffman) and Brenda (Sonnie) Hermann, both of Mansfield and Alice Matthews of Lexington; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and many treasured friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Donald and Maxine Conn; a sister-in-law, Donna Anton; and a brother, Christopher Bradshaw, whom he greatly missed.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service conducted by Bro. Don Stallard will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. A reception at Chris's Cafe, 1111 W. Fourth St., Mansfield, will immediately follow the graveside service. Online guest registry at www.wappner.com

To the Bradshaw Family,
I didn't know Shannon, but because my husband thought so highly of him, I wanted to express our sympathy to the family. My husband worked with Shannon at GM/Parma and said he was such a nice guy, and the most laid back supervisor ever. He would talk in a calm, soothing manner. If only all supervisors had that quality. What a great example Shannon was not only to his children, but to the employees of GM and for all who had the pleasure of knowing him. So very sorry for your loss.
