SPRINGFIELD, IL: Ruben L. Weideman, 80, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Lees Summit, MO and Mansfield, OH, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born October 21, 1933 in Lyman, NE to Jacob and Agnes (Whitman) Wiedeman and has lived in Illinois, Missouri and Ohio most of his life.

Ruben married Dixie McCord, they have been married 46 years, she survives.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service and from the Richland County Sheriff's Department after 20 years of service.

Ruben was a member of the American Legion in Illinois and the Elks Club in Lexington, OH. He enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his motorcycle.

Surviving in addition to his wife is son, Roger Weideman of Kenosha, WI; daughter, Deanna Weideman of O'fallon, MO; and sisters, Vera Peterson of Akron, Elsie Spady of Nebraska and Elanor Wolff of Lansing, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Edward and Adolf Wiedeman.

Graveside services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Rittman on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 2:30 p.m.
