Thomas A. "Tom" Swick

NORWALK: Thomas A. (Tom) Swick, 66, a lifelong resident of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in Bradenton, Florida after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born September 27, 1946 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Howard and Mary (Zureich) Swick. He attended grade school at St. Mary's and was a 1964 graduate of St. Paul High School. Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1964 and served in the Vietnam War from 1965 -1966. He worked for Clevite in Milan and Corchran Tile in Norwalk, was a Realtor for Rench Real Estate, and retired from First Choice Packaging in Fremont, Ohio as a Manufacturing Manager in 2008. Tom was a lifelong member of Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars and was also a member of Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion. He was an avid boater and fisherman and liked spending time on Lake Erie with family and friends. As a young boy, Tom loved spending his summers at the ballpark and played in the Lefty Grove League. He was most proud of the fact that he had a no hitter going, but it was broken up by a hit from his best friend, Ron Nopper, whom he shared a boat with, (aptly named the "Nauti Buoys") for 13 years. Tom enjoyed playing softball, golfing, bowling, dart ball, camping, and gambling. He also loved to travel to the Caribbean and wintering the past four years in Bradenton, Florida. He was a diehard OSU Buckeye fan and enjoyed officiating high school football for numerous years. He especially loved spending time with his wife, three children, and eight grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife, Linda (Skinn) Swick, whom he married July 29, 1994; and three children, Shelly (Kyle) Marks, of Columbus, Ohio, Wendy (Chris) Wilging of Mansfield, Ohio, and Dan (Emily) Swick of Norwalk, Ohio; and by his grandchildren, Ellie, Lexie, Ryan, Olivia, Carsyn, Carter, Penny, and Sammy. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Generose Boose, of Norwalk, Ohio, Vern Swick of Norwalk, Ohio, and Kevin Swick of Columbia, South Carolina.

Tom was preceded in death by his canine companion, Charlie, whom he loved dearly.
