Albert Barzanti

Mansfield - On Friday June 29, 2018 Albert Barzanti took his final breath, he was 97. Born on January 16, 1921 to Italian born parents Lada Burchianti and Samuel Joseph Barzanti, in Allison, Pennsylvania. As commonplace with large Italian families, Albert spent most of his childhood being raised by his aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Ulderico Angelome, who had no children of their own.

Albert lived a long and exciting life: from working in coal mines as a young adult to his service in World War II where he trained canines in the Army's famed 10th Mountain Division, to his graduation from Western Reserve in Cleveland Ohio (where he tutored opera students in Italian and sold peanuts at the Cleveland Indians Stadium in 1948; the last time they would win the pennant) to his most touted accomplishment of marrying his wife Reta and raising their three children together.

Throughout his life, he always put others before himself. Albert was known to those close to him for his quick-witted sense of humor, charming persona, and his love and affection towards his family and friends. He went out of his way to make sure those around him were taken care of, no matter the cost.

Albert retired from Jones Potato Chip Company in 1986, after 35 years of service. He loved to go fishing with his late best friend Joe Dockman and was an avid gardener. He would often break into song, singing Italian opera music and was well known for his descriptive storytelling and humorous riddles. Albert also enjoyed attending church, debating history & politics, and most importantly spending time with his large family.

Albert, known to his family as Pappy was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Reta Barzanti, and his brothers Gino, Ralph, Donald, George, and Danny, as well as sister Nida. He is survived by sister Verna, daughter Bonnie (Gary), son Bruce, and youngest daughter Beverly (Steve), niece Karen, nephew David, grandchildren Nicole (Drew), Angie, Jackie (Kevin), Jason (Amber), Jesse, Aaron (Patty), Amy (Eddie), along with nine great grandchildren and numerous other nieces and nephews.
