Dale Charles Murphy
Shelby - Dale Charles Murphy, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on September 25, 1927 to Charles Laverne and Flossie Edna (Gray) Murphy in Mansfield, Ohio, and was the second of four children. He married the love of his life, Mary Ann (Poplar) Murphy, on October 15, 1977.
Dale graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1945 and served in the United States Army from 1951 - 1953 during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska. After his Army service, he work at Ideal Electric managing the evening shift of the testing department. He also flew for Goetz Construction for many years.
Dale had a passion for life that he shared and passed to his nieces and nephews that included flying, boating, and motorcycles. Of these, Dale loved flying most... achieving single and multi engine, instrument, commercial, helicopter and sailplane ratings. He was also an avid photographer, documenting family gatherings, his travels, nature and the mundane daily activities of life.
His love of family and willingness to share his passions with them inspired his nieces and nephews to follow his love of photography, flying, boating and nature.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; brother and sister-in-law, George and Jan Scortia; nieces, Lynn, Linda, Kathie, Shelley, Amy and Carolyn; and nephews Mike and Dan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne and Lloyd Murphy; sister, Katherine Eley; and nephews Mark Murphy and David Eley.
There will be no services at this time.
