Helen Elizabeth Byles Gregg

Mansfield - Helen Elizabeth Byles Gregg, died on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was 95. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Mildred Case of Blooming Grove, Ohio. Helen attended Blooming Grove elementary school and graduated from Galion High School, class of 1941. Helen attended Warner's Beauty School in Mansfield, receiving her license in 1942. She owned and operated salons in Mansfield, Galion and Lucas, Ohio for many years. She married George Byles in 1943 and enjoyed 56 years together. George also had a barber shop in Lucas. In their later years, they moved to New Port Richey, Florida and spent 25 years there until George's illness brought them back to Ohio, where he died. While in Florida, Helen took schooling and became a licensed realtor. Helen accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior early in life and served him as children's work superintendent, teacher and choir member. She married Carrol Gregg on December 21, 2002 and they enjoyed 16 years together.

Helen is survived by her husband, Carrol B. Gregg; sons, Jan Byles of Mansfield, and Michael (Jane) Byles of Apple Valley, Ohio; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, George Byles; and a sister, Zella Moritz.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00-4:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Grace Bible Church, 67 W Main Street Lucas, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm. Burial has taken place in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to Grace Bible Church. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
