James Harsh

Galion - James J. "Jim" Harsh, 81, of Galion passed away Monday morning, May 14, 2018 at the Galion Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born March 20, 1937 in Delaware, Ohio and was the son of the late Herbert and Esther (Luke) Harsh. Jim is survived and recently celebrated 59 years with his beloved wife Shirley A. (Howell) Harsh, whom he married on May 9, 1959.

He was a 1957 graduate of Galion High School and served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Jim was a machinist, and worked at Perfection Cobey for 27 years and retired in 2003 from A & G Manufacturing. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion and a member of the St. Francis Council Knights of Columbus 1234 of Galion, where he attained the level of 4th Degree. Jim was a handy man who could fix anything. He also loved walking, fishing, gardening and sitting on the porch and watching it rain.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children Katherine (Dave Jones) Harsh of Findlay, Michael (Jerrol) Harsh of Findlay and Tina M. Harsh of Galion; two granddaughters Melissa (Ron) Smith of Findlay and Myranda (Jamie) Martin of Waland, Tennessee;a step-granddaughter, Kassandra Wallace; three great-grandchildren Kady Smith, Karson Smith and A.J. Harsh; brother John (Marilyn) Harsh of Galion and sister Rita Soto of Oak Point, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held Friday, May 18 at 6:00 p.m. with Father Paul Fahrbach officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to in care of the funeral home.
