Mansfield - Larry Lee MARSH, 71, passed this life Friday, May 11, 2018 in Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness.

Mr. Marsh was born on Friday, September 20, 1946 to the late Willie and Lizzie Mae (Dawkins) Marsh, Sr. in Holly Springs, Mississippi and had lived in Mansfield the past 67 years. Larry attended Mansfield Senior High School where he became a football and track star and was a member of the graduating class of 1964. After graduation Larry spent some time playing semi pro football. Larry was a former employee of General Motors retiring from the then CPC/GM Plant in 2009 after 40.7 years of service and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local #549 and served as a past trustee. He was a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, in his later years Larry chose to have a relationship with the churches of choice of his wife and children. He was a member of the masons, Pride Of Ohio Lodge # 80, and when his children were young Larry was the championship coach for the Football Little League "Sherman Roadrunners". Back in the day Larry was the baddest Monday night roller skater rivaling Dickie Alexander and W.B. Jefferson! Larry's joys were fishing, following the Lakers, Browns, Ohio State, the Cavaliers, and family.

Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years Viola (Gordon) who met for the first time walking home from the Friendly House, 3 children: Larry D. Bishop, Fayetteville, North Carolina, Lamar S. (Rhonda) Marsh, Mansfield, and Athena J. Marsh, Columbus; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Elizabeth Adkison, Mansfield, Bobbie Marsh, Ashland, and Annie Ruth Weaver, Detroit, Michigan; 1 brother: Ben (Gloria) Marsh, Conyers, Georgia; 2 sisters-in-law: Jarvis, and Bessie Marsh, Mansfield.

In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister-in-law: Elijah "Eli", Eddie, Johnny and Willie and JoAnn Marsh.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 12:00 Noon in the Oasis of Love Church with Dr. Walter E. Jordan, II, delivering the eulogy and Rev. Quentin Respress officiating. Masonic memorial services will begin at 10:30 AM. Upon the conclusion of the memorial services the family will receive friends until time of the funeral service. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at their home, 92 Shaffner Blvd. Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
