MANSFIELD: Leona Martin Clark, age 75, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 following a brief illness.

Leona was born May 29, 1939 in Menifee County, KY, the daughter of the late Warren and Clara Inez (Staton) Martin. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Shelby and Leona lived in the Shelby/Mansfield/Lexington area all of her life.

Leona was a graduate of Shelby High School Class of 1957. She worked at the Shelby Mutual Insurance Company as a stenographer. She then graduated with the Scholastic Award from the Mid-Ohio Practical Nurse Program in 1973 as an LPN and later earned a Pharmacology Certification. Leona was employed at Shelby Memorial Hospital as a Medical-Surgical Nurse, Woodlawn Nursing Home as an STNA Instructor, Pioneer JVS as an instructor, and worked at various health care facilities in the area.

Leona and family had been members of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby. She was a former member of Nu Phi Mu Chapter Sorority, then Eta Psi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Leona was also active in various community and parenting organizations, including: the LPN Advisory Board at NCTC, Shelby 1957 Class Club, and various area senior organizations. She also was a licensed real estate agent.

Her greatest achievements in her life were her children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments, making her a very proud mother. Leona was a devoted mother and cherished all family time together and the many family get-togethers. She was a hard worker, kind, caring, generous person with a positive attitude. She enjoyed many interests, such as: vacations, shopping, gardening, current events, reading, computer, tv, movies, walking, sewing, home projects, crafts, and being with family and friends.

Leona is survived by her three children: son, Steven W. Clark of Cincinnati, daughters: Andrea Clark Albl of Cincinnati, Jennifer L. Clark of Mansfield; 6 grandchildren: Alyssa Amert, Jessica Swingle , Adam Clark, Sara Clark, Lauren Evans, Jeremy Evans; 3 great grandchildren: Jacob, Shane Jr., Audrey; many cousins and friends.

Friends and family are welcome on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 11:30 AM to 1 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with burial in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial Expressions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the , or the March of Dimes.
