Marilyn E. Hawk

CELINA: Marilyn E. Hawk, age 80, of Celina, passed away November 20 at Riverside Hospital, Columbus.

Born in Celina January 18, 1931 to the late Eugene C. and Hilda P. (Schoch) Heckler.

She married Richard E. Hawk on June 14, 1952 and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1995.

Surviving are seven children: C. Eugene Hawk, Sandusky, Daniel (Renee) Hawk, Bothell, WA, John Hawk, Fostoria, Mary Kay (Mark) Pierce, Mansfield, Richard A. Hawk, Russia, OH, Patricia (Mike) Chappie, Troy and Michael (Alberta) Hawk, Wapakoneta; 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Hay, Celina.

Preceding her in death was a sister, Velma Jean Heckler.

She was a 1949 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Celina and completed her nurses' training in 1953, graduating from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, Dayton. She had worked in nursing at the former Otis Hospital and Total Care Nursing Home in Celina.

She still maintained her nursing license and currently taught "Family to Family" classes locally for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

A life-long member of Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, she was active in many roles within the church and school, and a member of the Altar-Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella. She particularly enjoyed volunteering in the school cafeteria.

She was active with the Mercer County Council on Aging (Senior Citizens) and had served on their board.

Loving her kids and grandkids and spending time with them was her greatest hobby. She was an excellent Ping-Pong player.

She enjoyed sending notes and cards to friends and family, playing Pinochle and Bridge, hunting for bittersweet and wild mushrooms, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26 at Immaculate Conception Church, Celina. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 25 and 9:00-9:45 a.m., Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina. A Private burial will be held at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
