Michael J. Kissel

SHELBY: Michael J. Kissel, age 50, resident of Shelby died Sunday, November 17, 2013 in Lima Memorial Hospital following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Born July 23, 1963 in Ashland, Ohio to Ronald and Carolee (O'Green) Kissel, he had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A 1982 graduate of Shelby Sr. High School, he attended Muskingum University. Mike enrolled in MTD's apprenticeship program where he received his journeyman's card as a tool and die maker.

He was employed with MTD for 12 years before going to work at General Motors in Mansfield. In 2010, he transferred to the GM Plant in Marion, Indiana where he was currently employed. Mike lived in Marion, Indiana during his work week and traveled back to Shelby every weekend.

He was a member of the UAW Local#549, Shelby Moose, Eagle's and American Legion where he was active in the motorcycle club.

An avid Harley fan, he loved riding his motorcycle and took pride in working on the family farm. He was a big family man who cherished his kids and enjoyed attending their sporting events. A very likable person who never met a stranger, he was quick witted, always supportive and a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians.
