Lois G. Tegtmeier Obituary
Lois G. Tegtmeier

ASHLAND: After a long period of declining health, Lois G. Tegtmeier was called home by her Lord and reunited with her late husband Bill on July 17, 2014.

Mrs. Tegtmeier, of Brethren Care Village in Ashland, had previously lived in Bailey Lakes since 1948. Born on December 31, 1922 in Youngstown, she was the only child of Rev. Emil and Sigrid Westlund. She graduated from Capital University in 1944 following her prep schooling at Youngstown South High School. She married William (Bill) Tegtmeier in 1946, and later completed additional post-graduate studies at Ashland College.

She was a faithful follower of Christ and a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ashland for 66 years. She served many years as choir member and director, piano accompanist, Sunday School teacher, and in various other capacities. Mrs. Tegtmeier retired in 1983 after teaching elementary vocal music for nearly 30 years in the Savannah and Crestview School Districts. She was a member of Ashland County Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.

A talented musician and gifted pianist, she readily shared her gifts with others. Learning about sports from husband Bill, a coach at Savannah, she became an avid fan of his teams, as well as those of her children, grandchildren, and other Ohio teams. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, traveling, and volunteering at Good Shepherd Home in Ashland.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. Surviving are her four children: Linda Fenton (Larry) of Butler, Dr. Terry Tegtmeier (Brenda) of Bolivar, Tim Tegtmeier (Pam) of Wooster, and Dr. Todd Tegtmeier (Wendy) of Loveland; eight grandchildren: Shawn Fenton (Sharon), Amy Kennedy (Paul), Jennifer Roley (Paul), Matthew Tegtmeier, Christy Gray (Matt), Jon Tegtmeier (Courtney), Meghan Tegtmeier, and Kirk Tegtmeier; and eight great-grandchildren: Amanda, Jack, Rachel, Owen, Lauren, Alexis, Carsyn, and Maxwell.
