James T. Horan April 6, 1928 May 15, 2018 Jim Horan passed away peacefully on May 15th from complications of cancer and heart disease surrounded by his son Jim Jr., daughter Mary Beth Miller and her husband Charles Miller. Jim had a long and wonderful life. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. He left the City to join the Army Air Force in 1946. He started his career as a navigator on B-29s. He served in Japan, Korea, Turkey and all across the US. He retired from the Air Force in 1968 after having achieved the rank of Chief Master Sargent. He subsequently held management positions for the Army and Navy, the last being at Mare Island. The best decision Jim Horan made was to marry Beatrice Ann Smith from Spokane. They were married for 67 years until Beatrice passed away in 2016. They loved to cook, garden, travel and enjoyed live music, theatrical events and their two grandsons and four great grand-children. They had three children, Jim Jr., Mary Beth and Cathy (decreased). They loved life in Novato! A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 24th at 11:00am at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 1806 Novato Blvd., Novato, CA. Visitation will precede Mass starting at 10:30am.
