Mary Jane O'Brien 8/29/34 - 5/28/18 Mary Jane O'Brien, formally of Larkspur, died at Nazareth House on Monday May 28, 2018. She was 83. Jane was predeceased by her sister Madeleine O'Brien of Larkspur and her two brothers: Alfred of San Rafael and William of Burlingame. She is survived by 8 nieces and nephews. Jane was born in San Francisco on August 29, 1934. She attended St. Rose Academy and Dominican College where she received a B.A. and M.A. in English and a Lifetime California General Secondary Credential. She taught English in high school and became a "Master Teacher" training student teachers. Eventually, Jane entered the business world where she worked for Commerce Clearing House, Inc., as a senior editor in Government Contract Law. She then went to Barclays Law Publishers where she supervised the publication of several state administrative codes. She retired from the Thomson-West-Reuters Corp. as managing editor of the California Code of Regulations. Jane enjoyed reading, music, and traveling within the state, to the east coast, Hawaii, and especially eight extended trips to Europe. She was a member of the Rosary Confraternity, Shrine of St. Jude, St. Anthony Foundation, Basilica of the National Shrine in D.C., and the American Life League. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 5th from 4-6pm with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6pm at Keaton's Mortuary, 1022 E St., in San Rafael. The following day, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 2390 Bush St., in San Francisco. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd., in Colma. The family would like to thank the staff and wonderful caregivers at Nazareth House.
