Morton H. Tallen Morton Tallen died peacefully on May 9, 2018 at his residence just shy of his one hundredth birthday. A Chicago native, Mort loved calling California home. Mort was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Sylvia Tallen, his siblings Stanley Tallen and Elaine Baime, his fourth wife, Isabella Tallen, and his daughter, Esther Tallen-Gozani. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters Sylvia (Jason) Marsh and Louise (Soni Cantrell) Tallen; four stepchildren, Kathleen Cox, Joey Fletcher, John David Fletcher and Tom Fletcher, and their spouses. In addition, he is survived by many grandchildren, and step grandchildren. Morton dedicated his life to serving his country. He served in the European Theater in World War II. From 1946-1981 he worked for the Department of Veteran's Affairs. Retirement didn't suit him and so he spent the next thirty years as the Marin County Veteran's Service Officer, where he helped countless veterans and their families. Mort will be remembered as someone who cared deeply about those who served our country. Private burial was held at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you can honor Mort by making a donation to an organization that serves veterans.
