Paul Giovannoni Obituary

Paul Giovannoni Born on December 4, 1925 in San Francisco California. He was the son of Paul T. Giovannoni and Mary Kearney Giovannoni. Paul passed away peacefully with his wife Laura Giovannoni by his side and other immediate members of the family. He graduated from St. Joseph's Military Academy, St. Ignatius High School and the University of San Francisco in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He Served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Paul is survived by his loving wife Laura of 66 years, his son Jim Giovannoni (Betsy), Stephen Giovannoni (Kim Halsey), Laura Eckhard (Mike), Thomas Giovannoni (Angie). Paul is also survived by his grandchildren Jessica, Kate Baldwin (Joe), Leila, Amy, Micaela, Michael, Paul and his Great grandchildren Emma, Lily and Wyatt. After graduating USF, Paul worked 33 years in sales for Gilmore Envelope Corporation retiring in 1987. Paul was talented in many arenas. One Life long passion was baseball. He played for St. Ignatius High School, several Bay Area Semi-Pro baseball teams and he also coached Babe Ruth baseball for many years afterwards. Paul and his wife Laura moved their family to Larkspur in 1956. Paul was also a gifted movie maker. During the late 1950's he was the President for the Westwood Movie Club in San Francisco. He filmed, edited, and produced many movies that won top awards. Most notably Moods of a City, a tribute to San Francisco. His life long love of movie making continued into his late 80's. He was able to adapt, without hesitation, from the art of film to the digital age, making many movies using the latest technology and also performing his own voiceovers. Paul was a dedicated family man, always loving towards his wife Laura and always supportive and unconditionally loving to his children and family. Paul had a radiance about him that was magical. He attracted so many friends and touched so many lives. As one friend of his conveyed to me, "knowing him impacted my life in ways that you cannot imagine. He made us all better people by knowing him". Funeral Services will be held at St. Patricks Church, 114 Kings Street, Larkspur, CA on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Dear Laura and family: I was so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. What fun we all had years ago getting together at your home and putting on Paul's fun creative productions! Paul was sooooo much fun! And also, it was such a pleasure to know him through our business association too which is how we originally met him. When Paul called on us at our printing shop he was always upbeat and brought a ray of light wherever he went. My sincerest condolences on your loss. Paul will be missed by so many, many people. He touched so many lives in such a positive way.

Thought, the loss of a friend
Losing a man, shadow father- who knew
Storyteller who listened too
Peacefully he will go
I will know,
To carry his shoes
And cry in the night
And love him some more.
