1938 - 2016

Samuel Williams Parke, Jr. Age 77, died peacefully at his home in Tiburon, CA on Thursday March 24, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Parke, 3 sisters and their spouses, Peter and Dyson Stockman, Allen and Sallie Greenough and Alice (Pixie) Watson. Step-children and their spouses include Rick and Melissa Johnston, Doug and Leslie Grayson, Bill and Dina Falk, Lloyd and Kim Hill, 11 grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews. Born July 28, 1938 to Samuel W. Parke and Sarah E. Parke in Philadelphia he graduated from Germantown Friends School in 1956 and Dartmouth College in 1960. Married Marily Clapham in 1975 and became a widower in 1994. He lived in Wyndmoor, PA, Ambler PA and Phoenixville PA. On October 25, 2003 Sam married Marilyn M. Johnston and moved to Tiburon CA. Sam served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Security Agency in 1961. He joined Schmidt, Roberts and Parke (a securities investment firm founded by his father in 1937), merged in 1974 and became Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager of Newbold's Asset Management until his retirement in 1997. Past member of Board of Managers (and treasurer) of Seamen's Church Institute of Philadelphia, he was an active member of the Belvedere-Tiburon Rotary, local SIRS Chapter and served on the board for the Point Tiburon Bayside Condominium Association. Devoted husband and loving family member, Sam's interests included history, politics, travel, pinot noir and walks on the water front with his four legged friend. He loved living in California, was the consummate gentleman and lived his life with integrity. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service was held Tuesday March 29th at St. Stephens Church in Belvedere, CA at 2:00pm with a reception to follow.
