Sarah Christine Kulkofsky Obituary
Sarah Christine Kulkofsky

LUBBOCK, TX: Sarah Christine Kulkofsky, 30, passed away January 13, at her home in Lubbock Texas, due to complications from the flu. Sarah was born in Marion to Mic and Linda (Blank) Kulkofsky on January 23, 1980.

She graduated from Harding High School in 1998 in the top her her class. Upon graduation she received a full scholarship from Colgate University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with high honors in Psychology, Phi Beta Kappa with degrees in Political Science and Psychology and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She went on to receive her Ph.D. from Cornell University. In 2007, she accepted a position at Texas Tech University as an Assistant Professor. As in everything that Sarah did, she excelled at the position and received many accolades. She recently accepted a new position at Oberlin College and was returning to her roots in Ohio, where she would be closer to her family and her beloved Cleveland Indians.

Sarah had a wonderful spirit and personality to match her mind. She loved to laugh and treasured her fun times with her friends. She was a lover of Indie Rock, Wes Anderson, Trivia and Cleveland Baseball. She had started a "bake club" with friends where she could perfect her love of baking. Sarah was always up for a good discussion and had an uncanny ability to prove her point. She was a lover of politics and would never back down from a debate. She truly loved her students and instilling her thirst for knowledge in them. Above all, she was an incredibly loving sister, daughter, aunt and friend and will be fondly remembered and sorely missed from all the many lives she touched.

Sarah is survived by her parents, Mic and Linda Kulkofsky; a brother, Drew Kulkofsky; a sister, Meggen (Brandan) McMorris; her two nieces that she loved and adored, Kyleah and Kambrie McMorris and her maternal grandmother Joan Blank. She was also blessed with the love of many aunts and uncles and cousins. Sarah was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jim Blank and her paternal grandmother, Peg Moore.

Education was of the utmost importance to Sarah so the family has established an education memorial fund in her name. Those who wish to contribute may do so at Sarah Kulkofsky Memorial Scholarship Fund, 504 S. State Street, Marion, Ohio 43302.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 South Prospect Street in Marion with Kevin Kehn officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
