This is Linda, daughter of Irma Louise "Pat" Lodwig Nichols. My mother is so sorry to hear of her final classmate's passing on May 1. And right before they would be honored for their 80th class reunion. Thank you, Judy, for finding my mother's number and giving her a call. Mother remembers so many fun times they would have together in school and over the years. I will try to get her to write on this Guest Book soon.

My mother, Martha Codding Tschantz & Johnnie's wife, Carroll were friends from the time they were 4 years old. Since my father worked for Nationwide, we moved around all the time. Because of this, I never had any childhood friends. But we always went to see the Longs every year. So, this family, to me is a reminder of good friends & adopted family. Johnnie, Carroll, Judi, Becky & Stu (Hiram) as my father always called him. I remember using the outdoor privy before they got an indoor bathroom. I remember Johnnie & Judi's wonderful art ability. When my mother died, she was buried their house in Prospect. He will be missed. Love to Judi & Stu - My email address is [email protected]

God granted Johnnie a loving wife and children, an extended family, life-long friends, and an exceptionally long life. This speaks volumes to the measure of the man and his place in our lives. As my father's best friend for over 60 years, he has always been a part of my life since my first memories (with very jittery 8mm home movies to document it). Johnnie was a kind, loving, decent, and upstanding man, the kind that we seem to see less of these days. Marylea and I will miss his visits, his humor, and his goodness. I cannot help but think that he and Dad are now together again in a much better place, hunting, skeetshooting and going to gun shows as they loved to do. May God continue to bless him in the afterlife as He has in this life.

To the family,
I am one of Elizabeth's and Edwin's granddaughters. I have fond memories of the house, sitting out back talking, the van, nutcrackers, Aunt Carol teasing us about one arm being longer than another, Christmas' filling the house, and July 4th celebrations. Uncle Johnnie and Aunt Carol were wonderful role models and I am blessed to have known them.
Prayers for all,

Judy, Bob and Stuart; please know that my mother thought of your dad as a father figure and she loved him deeply as well as your mother. She will miss him greatly. He was an icon on that street corner at our garage all of my life - he and his grey van. My sympathies to you all-and to my mother-Joan Norris in the loss of your father and her very dear friend and neighbor.
