Anthony Hill Allen Obituary
Anthony Hill Allen

Marion - Anthony Hill Allen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig 's disease and Multiple Myeloma on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Anthony was 75 years old and has lived in Marion since 1997.

Anthony was born on January 17, 1943 to the late Alexander and Violet (Arpino) Allen in Barrow-in-Furness, England. While in England he attended Urswick Schools and completed a five year construction management apprenticeship.

Anthony met the love of his life, Laurie Ann Cerra, by chance in a hotel lobby in Kingston, Jamaica in 1979. The two had a story book romance, traveling throughout New York, Jamaica, England, and Columbia until they were married on August 17, 1980 in Ardsley, New York at The Water Wheel Inn.

Anthony and Laurie had a wonderful life together, living in Canada and Michigan, raising two children, and enjoying Friday night steak nights. Anthony and Laurie enjoyed summer trips to the Jersey Shore and a family vacation to Disney World and The Bahamas in 2000. They made it a point to always try new foods by making diverse ethnic cuisines. In younger years, Anthony enjoyed working on and designing projects around the house and watching a good "film."

A hard-working man, Anthony was employed with several companies managing material handling projects throughout the United Kingdom, The Middle East, and Canada. In 1997, Anthony accepted a job with Fairfield Engineering moving his family to Marion. After their closure, Anthony worked for Roberts and Schaefer out of Chicago and helped with various projects across Indonesia and Australia until his retirement in 2007.

Anthony is survived by wife, Laurie; children, Andrew James Allen of Marion, and Carolyn Victoria (Eric Leibert) Allen of Nebraska; grandson, Victor Anthony and brother, Alexander (Christine) of England.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 14, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 251 N. Main Street, Marion, at 10:30 am with Father Thomas Buffer Officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Donations may be made in Anthony's honor to the ALS Association or Heartland Hospice of Marion.

Laurie wishes to express her gratitude to her Heartland Hospice family for helping us though this journey.
