Carolyn June (Williams) Rapp
Marion - Carolyn June (Williams) Rapp, age 82, of Marion, died peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
On January 19, 1939, Carolyn was born in Marion, Ohio, the fifth of eight children of the late Irey Edwin and Susan Rebecca (Nusser) Williams. She graduated from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1957.
Shortly following graduation, while at a local bowling alley, Carolyn met a young gentleman, Ralph Rapp, and from there the rest is history. They were married on September 21, 1961, and shared fifty nine years of marriage. Together they lovingly raised two children: Pennie and Eric. They also enjoyed living on a farm together in Mount Gilead from 1996-2010.
Carolyn started her working career at the Western and Southern Life Insurance agency, and after a brief stint there she transferred over to the Marion Power Shovel, where she worked in the accounting department until they closed. She then went to work in the accounting department at Fairfield Engineering, again until it closed in 2004.
Very faithful, Carolyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and enjoyed participating in Martha's Circle.
Having a green thumb, Carolyn could work in her flower garden all day long, where she especially enjoyed growing zinnias. She also was a bit of an artist, making creative arts and crafts for many years.
An avid reader, Carolyn loved a good biography and autobiography. She also was a sports buff, always rooting on her beloved OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.
Most important of all to Carolyn was her family. She devoted to her life to ensuring her children and grandchildren would have a bright future. They were her proudest achievement in life. She will be remembered as one of the most caring, honest and sincere women you could ever meet.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ralph Rapp; two children: Dr. Pennie (Vincent) Marchetti of Stow, OH, and Rev. Eric (Polly) Rapp; five grandchildren: Linus (Sarah) Marchetti, Galen, Maia, and Blaise Marchetti, and Lauren Rapp; three siblings: Martha (Ronald) Warrick, Lewis Williams, and Diane (James) Sinden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by four siblings and three in-laws: Irey E. Williams Jr., Jerry (Marlene) Williams, Mary (Carrol) Meyers, Eleanor Sue Williams, and Pamela Williams.
Her family will greet friends from 10 - 11 am on Friday, February 26, 2021, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel, 347 W. Center St., Marion, where masks will be required. Burial will be observed privately by her family in Marion Cemetery, with Rev. Rob Howard officiating. A public memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 143 S Prospect St, Marion, OH 43302.
On behalf of her family, they would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to the caring nurses with OhioHealth Hospice for their tender care of Carolyn in her final weeks and days.
