Marion - Jackie D. Kitchen, 80, of Marion died peacefully Wednesday morning, September 12th at Heartland in Marion after several months of failing health.

He was retired from Hostess after several years of employment as a deliveryman. As a young boy, he attended the Hayden Baptist Church in Hilliard. A US Army veteran, he was a member of the VFW #3320 here in Marysville.

Jackie was born September 28, 1937 in Boone County, Kentucky to the late David H. and Edith Hannah Kitchen. He married the former Sheila B. Pyers July 13, 1958 at the Marysville First Presbyterian Church. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2006 after 47 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Doug Kitchen, a sister Helen "Sissy" Lapp, a sister-in-law, Mary Kitchen and a nephew, Rodney Kitchen.

He is survived by his children Kenneth W. Kitchen of Plain City and Michelle (Chris) James of Marion; grandchildren Anson M. James and Ashley R. James; and brothers Roger, Ronnie and David Kitchen Jr.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Sunday at the Ingram Funeral Home, Marysville. The Rev. Denise Turpin will officiate and the Union County Honor Guard will perform full military honors. Friends may call from 1 pm to service time. A private family burial will take place Monday at Hopewell Cemetery next to his beloved wife.

In Jackie's name, contributions may be made to the Heart of Ohio Sheila Kitchen Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
