Janice M. West

Dayton - Janice M. West passed away on Sunday, October 7 at . She was born on April 27th in Marion, Ohio to the late Carl and Helen West. She graduated from Marion Catholic High School at the top of her class. She moved to Dayton to attend the University of Dayton. While attending UD, Janice joined Delta Sigma Theta and was a member of Dayton Alumnae Chapter. After graduation, she began her career in education as a teacher in the Dayton Public Schools. She graduated from Wright State's school psychologist program and interned at Troy City Schools, where she was employed for a number of years. Janice returned to Dayton Public Schools and served in a number of positions: Director of Psychology, supervisor, and assistant superintendent. She was a dedicated and hard-working employee who always gave maximum effort to any task she was assigned. Her insightful leadership inspired others and she positively touched the lives of students, parents, and her co-workers.

Janice was a faithful member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. She was active and shared her leadership skills as a Vestry member and chair of the Stewardship Board. She also led workshops and participated in strategic planning activities.

Janice was a loyal and loving friend who will be deeply missed by her sister Judy (Nathaniel) Battle, other relatives and friends and all those whose lives she has touched.

A memorial service will be held October 17 at 11:00am at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church 5301 Free Pike Trotwood, Ohio with Fr Benjamin Speare-Hardy officiating. Cremation entrusted to HH Roberts. The family will receive friends at 10:00. Delta Sigma Theta Omega Omega at 10:30am

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Janice's name.
