Louise M. Cobourn

- - Louise M. Cobourn, age 89, died Friday afternoon Sept. 14, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on Dec. 10, 1928 in Cardington to the late Raymond and Fern (Axthelm) Fisher and was baptized on January 6, 1929.

Louise graduated from Springfield (Ohio) High School, Class of 1946. She received a scholarship from her home church (Auburn Lutheran, Springfield) to attend Wittenberg College where she worked in the Admissions Office.

She married Joseph "Joe" Cobourn on June 2, 1950 and together they operated the farm which has been in the family since 1869. They also owned and operated the Green Camp Dairy Bar from 1968-1978. Joe preceded her in death on May 1, 2012.

Louise was a member of St. John Lutheran Church (Windfall) where she had served in several different capacities over the years: Sunday School teacher, Luther League advisor (along with Joe), Women of the ELCA (WELCA), Funeral Food Committee, Piecemakers, and the Altar Guild. She had also been a member of Farm Bureau and Gleaners-Chester Arbor, and delivered meals for Mobile Meals of Marion Co.

She is survived by her daughter, Claire-Ellen (Scott) Rankin; one grandson, Matthew (Amanda) Driskell and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by two daughters, Susan Driskell and Cara-Lee Cobourn; and one nephew, Tom Eswine.

The family will greet friends in the place where Louise's faith was nurtured, St. John Lutheran Church, (Windfall), 5070 Newmans-Cardington Road East, Cardington. The visitation will be on Sunday Sept. 23, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 with a light meal to follow in the church's Fellowship Hall. Pastor Adam Sornchai will officiate. The burial will follow on Monday at 10:00 AM in the Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church (Windfall) or Kindred Hospice of Marion, 1199 Delaware Ave., Suite 102A, Marion. Ohio 43302.
