I am full of admiration and love for Pastor Charles Reed. I attended Berean Baptist for around 20 years, and learned very early on that our God is one of love and grace, not retribution and punishment. I'll never forget when Pastor Reed called me up one day and said, "Well, Rick, I reeled in a big one today, boy." I figured he had gone fishing someplace, which he loved to do, so I asked what he caught, a big bass, a pike, or what. He said, "No, no, i was fishing for men, and I reeled in a big one, your Dad!" My father had colon cancer and just before he had his surgery, Pastor Reed visited him at Marion General and said just the right things to get to my dad. I was so grateful, especially since just having a simple conversation with my dad was so difficult for me at that time in our lives. I think it was tough for dad, too. My dad eventually did pass on from bone cancer, but lived to be 90 and got to do a lot of bucket list stuff in the last 6-7 months of his life, and I was usually with him. . Somehow, that time we had together during those final months were quite healing for both of us. But now my dad has an eternal life with Jesus in Heaven, and I have Pastor Reed to thank for "reeling in a big one." Pastor Reed also baptised my mother, Vera Davis, and that was a great blessing to her, as well. He dipped when I was about 30 years old, too. He was such a great friend and mentor to me. God bless you, my dear pastor and friend. I trust your heavenly fishing and travels are wonderful!

I miss "Chuck" so much. Every time I pass by Berean I think of him. He helped me so much when I was going thru some really tough family times, and was always there to counsel me and in a very Godly way. He taught me a lot about God and how to manage life. I miss him still to this day.

Pastor Reed was my pastor for 30 years at Berean Baptist Church. He was faithful to the Word of God. Much of my early Christian walk was carved out in his sermons. He was beloved by his testimony and by the community. God gets all the glory.

I am not sure there are words for this, but I will try. A Titan has fallen, as they all must in the end, but while here, he touched so many human lives. Each of those hearts must say their own piece for Pastor Reed, and I will say mine. There is no youth for me without Pastor Reed. There is no junior high basketball without COACH Reed, yelling FOWL!!! FOWL!!! (spelling intentional) at the top of his lungs to any referee in the building. There is no school for me, where I first learned of GOD, without his very presence throughout the building. There are no groggy Sunday morning services for a long haired teen, surrounded by the greatest group of friends that have ever lived, without PASTOR Reed. There is no after church lunch with his family for a bottomless stomached teen either, without PASTOR Reed. And there are no brothers of mine named Scott and Todd without Father Reed. Thank you, Sir, for all that you have done for me. There are so many things that I probably never even knew about behind the scenes. Thank you and may you rest, rejoice, and find peace with God. (just please, please, please.don’t sing in the choir.)

Pastor Reed and I always shared a special bond, and that will continue to be in my heart always. Never forgotten. He was an amazing influence in my life in so many ways, an awesome Man of God and so many others things. It was blessing to have him in my life since birth and I will cherish his memories forever. Heaven has gained an amazing man, He meant very much to me, the world and my family. I am both thankful and blessed for his presence in my life. I am also very thankful he was able to do my wedding in 2020. I love him and his family so much. He will be always missed.

We will dearly miss the Godly wisdom and calming presence of our friend Pastor Reed. At the same time, we rejoice that God was so gracious to end his suffering and he is now at home with his Savior. Words cannot express our appreciation for the role that Pastor played in our lives. He married us, baptized us, discipled us, laughed with us, and was instrumental in our growth as people and as followers of Jesus. Our gratitude abounds for God's knitting together of our path in life with Pastor Reed, Beryl, and their special family. To God be the glory great things He hath done!

Very few people have touched my life as did this man, the wonderful Pastor Reed. I am saddened to learn of his passing, and also for Beryl, his children and the rest of the family. But am also feeling an incredible sensation of joy and happiness for this man who did so much for so many souls here on earth and is now in the comforting hands of Our Lord in the Heavenly realms. I have never encountered anyone so knowledgeable in faith and the word of God as was Pastor Reed, and he had a way of putting things in the simplest terms that were easy for the lay person to understand. I attended Berean for around 20 years and took notes of his sermons often - still have many notebooks loaded with good stuff that I still look over at times. He helped me get through some personal issues from time to time, and I know he was helpful in that regard to many others. Who could even count the number of lives this wonderful man touched? He was not only a gifted deliverer of God's love from the pulpit, he lived it, as well. So caring, so compassionate, so kind, and also blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. Pastor Reed loved to go fishing, and was quite the angler, or so I've heard. And I knew of ho better "fisher of men" than he. He reeled in my own father during one of his many visits to Marion General Hospital, and he also helped bring my longtime mentor, Marion Star sports editor John Short to the Lord in the final days of his life. Many of us in Marion, Ohio owe our own salvation -- at least in part -- to Pastor Reed, and his wonderful words and kind nature helped so many people grow in their faith. Such a wonderful servant of the Lord he was!

Pastor Reed was not only my Preacher on Sundays, he was far beyond that.
Pastor Reed was my friend as well. Together, we enjoyed a close relationship beyond the scope of his pulpit. From the Church , the basketball youth programs, to always being there at my bedside to give me support, comfort, and assurance in my many stays in hospital.
A great Pastor , a great friend to me, my Family, and to many beyond. Surely and sadly , he will be missed.
Our memories will live on, till we meet once again Pastor Reed, WELL DONE .

Quite the preacher and quite the man. He was truly the essence of a servant. A life well lived. Those of us who knew him are better people because of it. Thank you, Pastor Reed.
